New Car Quick Quote
The QX line debuted in 1996, with the "4x4" designation referring to its four-wheel drive technology, and a "Q" added to describe its luxurious interior. The first generation QX4 ran through 2003, and the second generation QX56 began in 2004. Now in its third generation, the QX56 saw a name change to QX80 for 2014 in keeping with the rest of Nissan's line.
The sophisticated SUV features three rows of seating, a comfortable interior, and plenty of standard and optional features. The 5.6-liter V8 engine is coupled to a seven-speed shiftable automatic for 400 horsepower and good handling. Overall, the QX80 is considered a solid pick in the segment.
With INFINITI's new naming system rolling out in 2014, so did a new range-topping SUV. The 2014 QX80 takes the spot reserved for the outgoing QX56, and carries the same exterior look as its predecessor. It comes standard with a 5.6-liter V8 engine that produces 400 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 413 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. As standard, the QX80 comes in rear-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available as an option.
