Interested in the electric vehicle lifestyle, but wary of hidden costs and other hassles? Hyundai may have the solution with its new Ioniq Unlimited+ program. Called an electric vehicle "subscription program," Ioniq Unlimited+ is like a lease, but includes just about every expense a consumer might incur – the $275 (minimum) monthly payment includes license, fees, maintenance, charging fees, and unlimited mileage for a 36-month term.
That starting price covers a base Ioniq Electric, but the monthly cost can grow to $365 for an Ioniq Electric Limited with the Ultimate Package. A $2,500 initial payment is covered by California's electric vehicle incentive. Normally, the Ioniq Electric stickers for between $30,335 to $36,835 before rebates.
According to Hyundai, customers can pick their exact vehicle from their local dealer's inventory, get a pricing preview, and run a credit check online. Only after they've been approved do they need to head into the dealer, where Hyundai says they need to sign "a few forms," before driving away.
Hyundai's program is more inclusive than the leases offered by automakers selling EVs, though it's limited now to residents of Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside counties, with other California counties coming later this year, according to Hyundai.
