After a few new standard features were added to the current MKC, we expect Lincoln to take a year off from updating this model. So, we expect the 2018 Lincoln MKC to carry into 2018 without any changes.
We expect the compact Lincoln MKC to roll into the 2018 model year without any distinguishable visual differences from the current model. It’ll retain its sharp, luxurious outward appearance and very well-equipped cabin.
Speaking of equipment, we don’t expect any changes to the MKC’s long list of standard features in the new year. If our assumption is correct, look for the MKC to come standard with 18-inch wheels, automatic xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, a power liftgate, rear parking sensors, remote start, keyless entry and ignition, leather upholstery, Sync 3 infotainment, a nine-speaker audio system, and much more.
The under-hood bits should also remain the same for the new model year, so look for the standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine to remain at 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Optionally, buyers can go with the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that injects a healthy 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. Both engines will continue to pair with six-speed automatic transmissions.
The current MKC has not completed IIHS safety testing, but in the two crash tests it’s finished -- moderate-overlap and side -- it’s received good ratings. The government-run NHTSA, on the other hand, rates the 2017 MKC four out of five stars in safety. One downside is there is no automatic emergency braking available -- just an emergency brake-priming system. These ratings and all the MKC’s safety feature should remain the same in 2018.
Check back for updates as they become available.
