Latest Updates

2018 Edge pricing added September 20, 2017.

Model Preview

After a full redesign back in 2015, the Edge underwent a few tweaks in 2016 and remained unchanged for 2017. With the 2018 Edge right around the corner, we expect it to remain mostly unchanged again, but there is a chance of a powertrain update.

With its looks still relatively fresh, we expect no changes to the Edge’s looks in the new model year. We also expect no changes inside the cabin, where there are plenty of features to make this interior quite comfortable in its upper trims.

Standard features will likely carry on as well. If this proves true, look for it to come with 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, dual exhaust, an acoustic windshield, LED taillights, a 4.2-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker audio system, and Ford Sync.

Engine choices are expected to receive no major changes. The current base engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. The SEL and Titanium trims get a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. In the Edge Sport, a 2.7-liter turbocharged six-cylinder is standard with 315 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. The current Edge uses a six-speed automatic transmission, but we may see a new nine-speed transmission for 2018.

Ford Edge

Safety isn’t necessarily a sore spot for the current Edge, but it also is not an IIHS Top Safety Pick, due to an “Acceptable” rating in the small-overlap test and just a “Basic” score in the front crash prevention. We expect these ratings to remain the same, as there are no safety system updates in the works.

Expect a full review closer to launch.

Pricing & Release Date

Production for the 2018 Ford Edge is expected to kick off in September. We currently anticipate a release date in October.

Official pricing will start at $30,215 including destination for the popular Edge SE. Opting for all-wheel drive adds $1,995 for an MSRP of $32,210. At the top of the range, the Edge Sport reaches $41,670.

In terms of deals, the 2017 Edge currently features a wide array of cashback incentives, financing offers and lease deals. Expect to get a great price heading into the last several months of the year.

Key competitors to the Edge include the Nissan Murano, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and GMC Acadia.
