A strong contender in the compact luxury crossover wars, the MKC has succeeded in bringing a raft of new customers into Lincoln showrooms. In just a few years of production, the MKC has become a hot-selling staple of a brand in need of a winner.
What's New for 2017
A power liftgate is now standard on all models, as is an auto-hold feature for the braking system. The base engine's fuel-saving automatic stop-start feature is now able in conjunction with all-wheel drive.
Choosing Your Lincoln MKC
The five-passenger MKC starts out with front-wheel drive and a turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder good for 240 horsepower. The available 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder provides a boost to 285 horsepower. All-wheel drive is optional with the 2-liter and standard on models equipped with the 2.3-liter.
All-wheel drive versions come with an adaptive suspension system, which is optional with front-drive. A six-speed automatic transmission is installed across the board.
With the rear seat in place, you get about 25 cubic feet of cargo space. Fold it down, and you're looking at 53 cubic feet, which is average for this class. The cabin's standard active noise cancellation assures a quiet ride.
As before, the MKC is offered in four trim levels:
All models are eligible for a premium 14-speaker sound system and 19- or 10-inch wheels.
The Premiere carries a friendly price, but the lack of leather upholstery and option packages makes it a bit too austere for this class. We recommend starting your build with the well-rounded Select, and moving to the Reserve if it's the only route to a feature you can't live without.
