The Chrysler 100 is rumored to be a new subcompact car under consideration for a possible addition to the Chrysler lineup.
Initial reports indicated that the car would be based on the same platform as the FIAT 500X and Jeep Renegade. A 9-speed automatic and revised 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Hurricane engine were said to be involved.
However, there has been no official confirmation that the car has been approved for production. In fact, Fiat Chrysler (FCA) has openly stated that it will pare back its sedan offerings in favor of more profitable crossover and truck models.
Current plans are unclear now that FCA has announced its intent not to continue the larger Chrysler 200 beyond its current generation without some sort of strategic partnership to cut development costs.
Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
