The Audi A6 makes a strong case for itself as the definitive modern midsize luxury car. Its blend of clean design rendered in high-grade materials, deep safety and connectivity technology, and well-balanced driving characteristics fulfills every contemporary market demand—and does so with a sense of completeness and harmony that sets it at the top of its class.
What's New for 2017
A new Competition trim line sharpens the A6 without pushing it into full S6 territory. For the Prestige, Prestige Plus and Premium lines changes are minor; smartphone connectivity is enhanced and a few S line cosmetic flourishes are made standard. The diesel powerplant that was available at the very beginning of last model year has of course been shelved and Audi would appreciate everyone not talking about it just right now, thank you.
Choosing Your Audi A6
Every A6 starts with a high-strength steel structure cloaked in aluminum body panels and fitted with an impeccably tasteful interior made from top-quality materials. Standard equipment includes power-adjustable heated leather seats, three-zone climate control, Audi's MMI infotainment system with SiriusXM satellite radio, and a sunroof. Available options across the line include an S line sport package with stiffer suspension tuning and 19-inch wheels and a cold-weather package which adds heating elements to the steering wheel and rear seats.
The A6 is available in four trim levels:
The A6 Competition tries to split the difference between a regular A6 with the S line Sport package and the 450-horsepower S6, and in doing so finds itself in a very narrow place; serious drivers need to weigh all three before committing. For most owners the Premium Plus with the V6/quattro drivetrain is the ideal combination of dignified luxury and serious cross-country touring capability at a fair price.
