The 2016 Acura RDX enters the competitive compact premium crossover segment doing what Acura is known for: packing a lot of features in a practical package. The RDX majors on providing a functional space for five passengers and versatility many seek in a crossover, while adding technology at a reasonable price.
What's New for 2016
For 2016, the RDX gets styling and equipment changes, as well as a new 3.5-liter V6 with six more horsepower and improved fuel economy. The front end now features the "Jewel Eye" LED headlamps similar to other Acura models, and there's a new interface for the audio controls. The new AcuraWatch suite of safety technologies is available on all models, and includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and forward collision warning. Finally, a new top-trim Advance joins the lineup.

While it may not be the most luxurious or prestigious contender in the segment, the RDX is certainly a strong value. Despite some desirable features such as automatic wipers and parking sensors, the Advance isn't the best pick. We think the mid-range Technology with AcuraWatch Plus better serves buyers who want to get all of the comfort and safety features they want from a $40,000 premium crossover.
