Volvo’s long-standing reputation for safety teams up with comfort and interior quality to deliver a luxury sedan comparable to those from Germany or Japan. Turbocharged engines and a newly reprogrammed automatic transmission add some fun to your driving experience in the newest S60.
What's New for 2014
The Volvo S60 receives a refreshed exterior with a new hood and headlights as well as changes to the interior with updated instrument displays, ambient lighting and seats. In addition, the automatic transmission has been reprogrammed for faster shifts and technology has been updated to include new active driver-assist systems and internet connectivity.
Choosing Your Volvo S60
There are three S60 models—the T5, the T6 and the T6 R-Design—and each of them gets its own engine and powertrain.
Standard features in the T5 include such items as a power driver’s seat with memory function, cloth upholstery, and a sound system with Bluetooth audio streaming, CD player and satellite radio. Each of three available trim packages for the T5 adds additional upgrades in equipment.
- The Premier package upgrades to leather seats and a power passenger seat and adds a moonroof, keyless entry and drive, and Volvo’s new adaptive digital instrument display.
- The Premier Plus package adds such items as a quick-fold front seat, a universal remote and a rear parking-assist camera.
- The Platinum package includes a premium sound system, a navigation system and auto-dimming power-retractable rearview mirrors.
The T6 includes the Premier package as standard equipment with the Premier Plus and Platinum packages available as options.
For the T6 R-Design model, both the Premier and Premier Plus packages become standard while the Platinum remains optional. The R-Design equipment list also includes active dual-xenon headlights, sport pedals, 18-inch alloy wheels and a number of special R-Design features such as special seats, steering wheel, interior badging and exterior styling.
In addition to the trim packages several option packages are available for all models:
- The Blind-spot Information System includes that driver-assist system as well as lane and cross-traffic alerts and parking assist systems for the front and rear.
- With the Climate package you get heated features throughout the cabin including all seats, steering wheel, windshield and washer nozzles
- The Technology package features a full list of driver-assist and active safety systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning and collision warning
- The Sport package is available for the T5 only and offers sport seats, paddle shifters, a dynamic chassis and 18-inch alloy wheels
Non-packaged items available across the board include such features as:
- A rear-seat entertainment system with two DVD players
- A front parking-assist camera
- Remote start
- Navigation system
- Internet connectivity
For the exterior, there are approximately a dozen colors available and some are trim-exclusive, while several wheels are also available either within packages or on their own.
Be prepared to add the cost of trim packages to your total sticker as the basic T5 is lacking in many of the features buyers look for in a sport sedan.
