The Toyota Sequoia has a more powerful V8 but is a cumbersome vehicle with so-so interior quality. The Chevrolet Suburban matches the space in the EL model but has a less-sophisticated suspension that doesn't allow the third-row to fold into the floor. The GMC Yukon is sized like the standard Expedition, has a better V8 and offers a posh Denali trim but also gets expensive and the third-row doesn't fold flat. The Nissan Armada is well-priced and well-equipped, but its age shows in interior quality and fuel economy.
Buyers looking at large SUVs need to think about whether the vehicle meets their needs. If you're not going to do off-roading or towing very heavy objects regularly, a V6-powered crossover is probably the more sensible, and less expensive, choice. But the Expedition can haul 8 passengers in comfort and an EL model will hold all of their cargo – and then some. Its immense towing ability and plush interior on higher trims means it's also a nice place to be. If you need a vehicle that places an emphasis on hauling, the Expedition could be the pick.
